Prerequisites

The course assumes you have some of the Arduino “know how” you would gain from the Arduino Course for Absolute Beginners (we make references back to specific lessons in the PEA training library if you need a refresher!)

Required Hardware

As part of this course, you'll be deciding which components are best for your specific prototype.

  • Adafruit Feather HUZZAH ESP8266
  • Lithium Ion Polymer Battery w/ JST connector
  • Meat Temperature Probe
  • Breadboard Friendly Audio Connector Jack
  • Proto-Board
  • Resistor(s) for Voltage Divider

"The design and implementation of your coursework was just great. I learned so much."
-Peter Call, NJ, USA

"I thought the course was great, very well put together and easy to understand."
-Charles Monogan, NJ, USA

"No programming background, zip-zero-nada. I’m a 58 year old tradesman/contractor.

Had an idea I was kicking around and needed to utilize a microprocessor.

Couldn’t afford a an electrical engineer.

Completed your basic courses.

1st breadboard working prototype shortly after the course(s)."
-Mike Palmer, FL, USA

"You have an outstanding program here. I’ve learned Much and have applied much, thank you. You are an excellent teacher."
-Anibal Rodriguez, NY, USA

Course Description

You’ll go step-by-step through a prototyping design process. We’ll go from an idea in your head, to building out a specification, to planning an algorithm, transforming equations into code, and writing code to interface with a popular IoT cloud service.

When you finish this course, you’ll have the skills and the confidence to develop a project that can communicate wirelessly with your phone, using open source code libraries with Blynk IoT applications.

This is our first “Project Walkthrough”, but this IS NOT a cut and paste Arduino project! You’ll be guided through building this project, expected to reflect as you design, code, and be challenged along the way.

We would love it if at the end of this course you have built this wireless project, but the goal isn’t so much this project, but the skills you’ll have acquired when you’ve completed the training.
