What will I learn?
- How the voltage regulator, diode, MOSFET, and polyfuse are used on an Arduino board
- Powering via Vin, the DC Jack and USB
- How to hook up external power
- Powering with batteries
- AC-DC power adapters
- Buck-Boost convertors
- Regulated Power Supply Units (PSUs)
- Example of current hungry circuit
Prerequisites
- There is no programming covered in this course, however it is discussed, and assumes you have a basic understanding on the Arduino platform. If you have finished the Arduino Course for Absolute Beginners – then this training will be right up your alley.
Required Hardware
No hardware is REQUIRED for this training, however, during the course different methods of powering are considered and buying those items only after the instruction would be recommended.
- Arduino UNO R3
- AC-DC power supply
- Battery Pack Connector for 5 AA battery pack
- Battery Connector for 9V Battery
- Desktop Power Supply Unit
Course Description
If you're new to electronics, then understanding power requirements for a project can feel really intimidating. I know this because I've been there. It almost feels like a dark art. And when we don't understand something well, many of us tend to associate an undo complexity to a problem.
In this course, we're going talk about different ways to power your projects either through an Arduino board or with external power supplies.
The whole idea here is to demystify the process for you. But the truth remains this. If you do not attempt some of these different powering methods on your own, they're kind of just forever going be a little plague in the back of your mind as something that's difficult or confusing.
So make sure as you learn about these different methods for powering to give some of them a shot. Even if it's not going to apply to a project that you're currently working on, just try it.
Length of Instruction: 1 hour and 46 minutes of HD video instruction.
