ESP32 install Arduino IDE 1 & 2 in 90 seconds
install in Arduino IDE 1:
I’m gonna show you how to set up the Arduino IDE 1.0 to use ESP32 boards. It’s really simple. First thing you’re gonna do is go up to Arduino, Preferences. If you’re on a PC, that’s gonna be under File, Preferences. In the Preference menu down at the bottom, there’s a space where it says Additional Board Manager URLs. You’re gonna take this URL right here that will be pasted in the description below, and you’re gonna paste it right in here. Now, you’ll notice I already have a URL in here, so all I have to do is add a comma, and then I’m gonna go ahead and paste that other URL in there. You know, it looks a little bit messy, but that’s all you gotta do. And then you hit OK. The next step you do is you go to the Boards Manager. So I’m gonna go to Tools, Board, Boards Manager. And now I’m gonna search for ESP32. All right, so ESP32 by Espressif Systems shows up. Click Install. Once installation is complete, click Close. Now when you come up to Tools and you go down to Board, you’ll see a folder for ESP32 Arduino, and here’s the different model boards you can choose from. So I’ve got an Unexpected Maker FeatherS2 hooked up. I can select that. And I can also select the port it’s connected to under Tools, Port, and then I can see it is right there.
install in Arduino IDE 2:
I’m gonna show you how to set up Arduino IDE 2.0 to use the ESP32 boards. It’s really pretty simple. First, you’ll go up to Arduino IDE, Preferences. If you’re on a PC, it will be under File Preferences. And when you go to the Preferences, it’s going to open a menu like this. There’s a box down here where it says, Additional Board Manager URLs, and you are gonna paste in this URL right here, which will be in the description, so you just paste it in there. If you already have another URL in there, all you have to do is add a comma, and then paste in another URL, so it’s just comma separated, that’s it. And then, click OK. Once you’ve done that, on the sidebar here, click on what looks like a board, and then type in, esp. Then you’ll see, ESP32 by Espressif Systems, shows up. Click Install. Once successfully installs, you’ll see it says, installed. And now, when you go up to Tools, Board, you can see that ESP32 folder shows up, and there’s a bunch of different options than you have in here. So, right now, I’m using an Unexpected Maker FeatherS2, so I can select that, and then I can select the port that it’s connected to, there it is Unexpected Maker Feather, and I’m good to go with my ESP32.
